What We Confess
We boldly confess the Triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We share our faith with these words:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Leadership
Originally from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, I moved to Wisconsin in 2019, and have loved the community that is present here in Wayside. It is a blessing to be part of such a genuinely caring and compassionate community, full of people who love Jesus! It was here that I met my wife, Emma Wangelin, and we got married right here at Zion in October of 2023!
Being from Michigan, I am an avid Detroit sports fan, and yes, that includes the Lions! And I love to spend my free time out on the golf course, or on the water somewhere.
Our Mission Statement at Zion is "Equipping Generations for Life in Christ." It is such an incredible opportunity for me to serve as a leader as we together fulfill this mission as we teach and equip generation after generation with God's Word, and a joy to see Jesus' Kingdom continue to grow!

I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church where I also attended elementary school. I then went to N.E.W. Lutheran for high school.
Following high school I spent one year at Grand Canyon University before transferring to Concordia University Wisconsin where I studied history and theological languages. I graduated in May of 2020. While at Concordia I also met my wife, Jane. We were married in the chapel at CUW in 2021. Jane now works as a registered nurse at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
After graduating from CUW, Jane and I moved to St. Louis, MO where I attended Concordia Seminary. I completed my M.Div there in May of 2024 and I was placed as associate pastor here at Zion!
Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Blessings to you in Christ!

Growing up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, I was a product of Lutheran education, attending Lutheran grade school at St. Paul's Green Bay, then N.E.W.L.H.S. for high school, and Concordia University Wisconsin for my undergrad in Graphic Design. I have always loved art and planned that I would spend my life working in an art field.
While taking time off from the work force to care for my youngest of 3 children, I began to be more involved in volunteering at Zion Lutheran on both the church and school sides. I eventually started helping with worship media and social media for the church, later adding role of church secretary when my youngest started Kindergarten, and then felt the call to serve my church as a called worker.
I recently completed my certificate course work at Concordia University Wisconsin in their Director of Church Ministries program and was installed as the DCM at Zion at the beginning of 2025.
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

We are confessional Lutherans
Specifically we are associated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
To be Lutheran simply means that we accept the scriptural truths that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century and led to a renewed focus on the Gospel.
As a result we uphold an extravagant and mysterious view of God's love: that man is saved purely by God's grace through faith alone, apart from works. We believe that God is so loving and powerful that he is actively working through His Word as well as saving and sustaining sinful men, women and children through his mysterious gifts of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
For an overview of all our beliefs as well as our take on current cultural issues such as marriage, life, and more please see lcms.org.

Past, Present, Future
We have insurmountable gratitude for every single congregation member, family, faculty, and volunteer that have raised strong families, cared for this church, and grown the roots that give us the fruit that we have today. We have generations of faithful servants that have walked these halls and sat in these pews. There are so many stories of hardship, grief, joy, and celebration that have built Zion Lutheran Wayside, and investing in this ministry is an honor to those that have come before us. Because of our strong roots, we can continue to grow and flourish. Glory be to God!
