Wise
Behold, my servant shall act wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted. As many were astonished at you— his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of mankind— Isaiah 52:13-14

The words in this text would seem totally contradictory to those who do not know the story. If a servant were to truly act wisely and be lifted up and exalted, the result would not be that His appearance would be so marred beyond human semblance. Today, we take time to reflect on what Jesus had to endure for our sake. We see how the Wise acts on behalf of the foolish. We recognize that we are responsible for Jesus’ death in that He is taking the punishment for our sins. Repent. Turn from those sins. And see He who has acted wisely for your sake. But remember, His story is not over yet.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, today is a day that we see how seriously we should be taking our sin as we see the wrath that God pours out as a result of it. Yet, we also see how seriously you take sin, in that you are willing to take that wrath for our sake. Thank you. Thank you for serving as the sacrifice for the sins of the world. Amen.
