Washed Clean
I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. - Rev 7:14

As a mom of three kids, and wife to a hardworking, outdoorsy husband, my home is filled with a lot of laundry. No matter how hard you try, the clothes never quite come out as clean as the day they were bought. I’ve tried all the different washing “hacks” that have been suggested by other moms on Facebook, the baking soda soak, cold water, hot water, less clothes in a load, special detergents, but it’s never perfect. The whites especially are never quite as bright as the very first time they were worn. So when you look at Revelation 7:14 and hear that those coming out of the great tribulation washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb, you may at first think, is this a new laundry method I haven’t heard of??
However, as we know when reading the book of Revelation, the words found therein are not a literal translation, yet symbolic. It is not a new laundry method in fact, but it is the symbolic washing of souls through the blood of Christ Jesus, the Lamb of God. We are made clean by his sacrifice. Our sin that is black and dirty has been traded for a white, clean robe because we are now purified. Lambs as the sacrifice made by the believers in the Old Testament atoned for the sins of the individual. The Lamb who died on the cross has atoned for the sins of all. When we come out of this great tribulation, which is our walk in the sin and sorrow of the world, we will be those in heaven wearing the robes of righteousness. We have faith in the Lamb and the power of his holy, precious blood for the forgiveness of sins. No special laundry “hack” is needed to save us, only Christ Jesus.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for sending your son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Let us rejoice in knowing that we will come out of the great tribulation as saints in your name, that no matter the sorrow and persecution of this life, that we have eternal life because of Jesus. Let us keep this hope in our hearts. We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
