Waiting
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

When I was a small girl we would get together at my grandmother’s house with our whole family. Aunts, uncles, cousins would sit around a long table and after dinner my grandfather would always bring up a topic for discussion. This might be a current event or even this week’s sermon topic. This would lead to lengthy discussions and oftentimes voices would get louder and louder as opinions clashed. These dinners would last a long time, especially for a child who just had to listen and wait patiently for the prayer to signal the end of the dinner. As a child I didn’t always appreciate sitting quietly just listening, especially since I was anxious to pray so I could go play with my cousins.
While I got accustomed to patiently waiting it is nowhere near the patience that the Old Testament prophets had waiting for the Savior. My mere minutes are nothing compared to their years. Patiently waiting for a Savior had to be hard. All that wondering when and how exactly. Thank goodness our Savior has arrived, and the waiting is over. We have seen his lowly birth and rejoiced in his death and resurrection.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the wonderful birth of our Savior. Please help us to follow His examples he gave to us from His life on Earth. Give us opportunities to share this message with all those around us.
In His name. Amen.
