Trusting the Known God with an Unknown Future
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” -Genesis 12:1-2

In Genesis 12:1-2, Abram is being called by God to leave everything behind and go to a place that he has never been before. Imagine being Abram, being called to leave your family, home, and your familiar world to serve God. Abram put his trust in God, even when he didn’t know what his future may look like. Have you ever been in a situation where you put your trust in God, but are scared of the unknown future
This past year, I was blessed with a healthy baby boy. As a first time mom, I thought my life was planned out when my husband and I agreed that I would be a “stay at home mom” and devote my time to raising our children. Then God blessed me by calling me to be a teacher again and having the privilege of teaching young students all about God. With a lot of prayer, I trusted God’s call and changed my future plans. The challenges of having a new baby, being a first time mom, and starting teaching at a new school, made it very difficult to know how our plans would work out. By trusting God, I am happy to say everything is working out just the way God intended it to. I thank God everyday for the challenges He places in my life, it really strengthens my faith in Him.
Like Abram, we too are called by God and are asked to trust Him, even though the future is unknown. Was there a time in your life when you felt called by God but were uncertain, and maybe even fearful, of what the future may look like? I challenge you to step out in faith this week and trust God.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust you. When I am afraid of the unknown, remind me of your promise to guide me in all that I do. Help me be a blessing to those around me in all I say and do. Amen.
