The Bible is full of beautiful poetry, powerful sermons, wondrous miracles, and faithful letters to churches. While these words are all equally essential in forming and strengthening our faith, every now and then you read a passage that is so straightforward about explaining the nature of our God. In Isaiah 42, we are given the vivid illustrations of God working in nature, and the power that He has in His hands.

We get the compassion of God set before us as He leads the blind in places that they do not know, and turns the darkness to light. And then we get this line, plain and simple. A quote from God Himself simply stating, “These are the things I do.” I love it. So simple. So concise. Yet so comforting. This is what God does for you. He leads you. He provides for you. He loves you. That is who He is. That is what He does. And He will never forsake you.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are good. And even when we are not, you remain the same. You continue to simply do what you do. Thank you for being who You are, and help us to mirror Your love to those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
