The Race

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. -Isaiah 40:30-31

As many of you know my husband is an avid cyclist and my daughters love to run. When we were first married I attended many cycling races of my husband and now attend running races of my daughters. I am always amazed at how exhausting races are to watch let alone run or bike. It always amazes me how when watching a race the competitors put so much effort in to reach the finish line. They spend hours, weeks, months, and even years training for certain races.

Pondering these races makes me think about my own race. No, I am not taking up running, but rather my Christian race. Do I spend hours, weeks, months, and years preparing for my ultimate victory of heaven? Am I invested in the work to prepare myself for the most important race. Do I have the correct mindset and training? Do we prepare for this heavenly race as much as we prepare for things here on Earth? I know my training is not done. So today and always I continue my training looking forward to the best prize of all, my heavenly home with my Lord and Savior.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for helping me daily to prepare me for my heavenly home. Please help me to focus my time, talents, and energy on your Word. Allow me to help others to prepare for their races as well.

In Your Name, Amen.
