Self-Identity
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus… – Romans 3:23-24

We live in a society where we are constantly looking for the approval of others. We have so many social media platforms like snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and X formerly known as Twitter, just to name a few. In these social media platforms, we are constantly taking pictures of ourselves or others and posting events and accomplishments that we “think” are important and blasting it on these platforms and patiently, probably impatiently waiting to see what others will think say and do because of our post. What’s sad is that we are looking for approval of complete strangers. All of these platforms enhance a society of self-centeredness and self-gratification that leads us down path away from our Lord and Savior.
We need to reevaluate where our priorities are as a Christian. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Living a life as a Christian we need to not worry about the approval of man but focus on the approval of our Lord and Savior. These social media platforms do not create your identity, your relationship with God creates your identity. Romans 3:23-24 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,”
So next time you think about the urgency or the necessity of that post, you should ask yourself am I furthering my kingdom of happiness and self-glorification or am I seeking HIS kingdom?
Prayer:
Dear God, it is in you that I find my identity. Help me to seek your will above my own in all I do. Amen.
