Part 3 - The best is yet to come

The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward. -Isaiah 50:5

And finally, Ellington made it home with her very full bucket of candy. Being the very cool parents that we are, once we’re home from trick or treating, all bets are off. Eat every piece of candy you want (no really, we just let them go (partially, because we also want to have every piece we want without anybody telling us to stop)). I couldn’t tell you exactly how much candy was consumed that afternoon, but the garbage can was very full of empty wrappers by the time bedtime rolled around.

Imagine if we just took the first thing that God was giving us and assumed that that’s all there was. We would miss so much, oftentimes bigger and better, because we felt the need to settle, or didn’t have faith that more was coming. Just like little Elle thinking that the first piece of candy was all there was and not realizing that there was more to come. God assures us that the best is yet to come, His plan is perfect, and no harm will come to us.

(As a side note: Happy 2nd Birthday, Ellington Rae! Thank you for the inspiration.)

Prayer:
Lord, you’ve protected me my whole life, and I trust that you will continue to protect and watch over me in the future as well. Amen.
