Lost Sheep

“Jesus is the shepherd who leads his flock, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.”- John 10:4

If you would have asked me 10 years ago where I would be in my life, I would have never guessed I would be teaching at a Lutheran school. However, here I am, in my 2nd year of teaching at this wonderful church and school. 10 years ago, I was newly married, working all day at my job in a clinic, waitressing on the weekends to make extra money, sleeping in on Sundays and never going to church. I was baptized as an infant, grew up going to Sunday school and church every Sunday, got confirmed, and continued attending church through high school. I knew this was important for me, but once I was in the real world on my own, I started to think working and making money was much more important than God.

God pointed me back to church, to this church, not where I originally grew up going. But, like we hear in John 10:4, “Jesus is the shepherd who leads his flock, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice,” Jesus is my shepherd. I was baptized, I grew up on his word, Jesus was in me, and he called my name and brought me back to him. I was a lost sheep, living life without Jesus, without reading his word every day. For all those years, I was living a life of anxiety, fear, and not knowing how to cope with what difficulties life was handing me. But because Jesus knew I was one of his, he brought me back to him. Back to a life of reading the Bible, hearing his word, listening to His voice, and helping me with whatever the next day brings. This is comforting, knowing my shepherd found me again, and will continue to lead me.

Please pray with me.

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Your Shepherd, Jesus, to find me, his lost sheep. Thank you for knowing me and helping me to hear your voice again. Continue to lead me through this Earthly life following your lead on where my path shall take me. Amen.
