Lead Thou On

And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. -Isaiah 42:16a

LENT DEVOTIONS

Jesus Lead Thou On. We sang this hymn a few weeks ago at our first service. I have not been able to get it out of my head since. The devil, the world, and our sinful nature throw many things at us. The song states that our ‘way may be cheerless’ (v. 1), ‘the foe be near’ (v.2), and ‘temptations come alluring’ (v. 3). These are things that knock us off the path. For some teens and adults, maybe it is sleeping in instead of waking up and reading your morning devotional. For teens, maybe it is staying out a few minutes past curfew. And for some students, maybe it is playing one more video game instead of studying for the History test or not doing an assignment to the best of your ability.

Whatever temptation is thrown at us, we need to get back on the path to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. The song ends with ‘Heavenly leader, still direct us, still support, console, protect us’ (v.4). We can go to God any time, any day, any where we are. Remember He is always waiting for us to get back on His path.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for being patient with me. I know I do wrong things often, but am grateful for your forgiveness through Jesus! Please help and guide me to do what is right. Amen.
