Perhaps you have had your fair share of come to Jesus moments in your life. Or maybe you are the person conducting that moment for your child or someone else in your life. We typically use this phrase when we know that we, or someone we know, needs to be made aware of the misconduct in their life. We need to come to Jesus to repent. While these moments are certainly necessary at times, it is also important for us to understand that Jesus comes to us. In Ezekiel 37, we get one of the most incredible moments in Scripture as an entire army of the dead is brought to life. Read how God speaks. It is only after HIS actions that they will know that He is God. Not their own actions, not even the actions of the prophet. When God brings them life, then they will know.
This is the truth for us as well. God comes to us. Jesus comes to us. And by His actions, we know who He is. We know that God is God because of the actions He has taken for us in Jesus. By His actions, our sins are forgiven. By His actions, we receive everlasting life. By His actions, we know who our God is.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you for the action you have taken on our behalf, that we may know who you are. Thank you for the gift of your Spirit, that by faith, we may follow. Now help us to use our own actions and words for your glory and the benefit of our neighbor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
