“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.” - Genesis 12:2

I can’t help but read this verse and think of how God uses the human mind for His glory. Nearly every person on earth would love to hear what Abram heard at this moment. God, the Creator of all things, saying that He will make your name great. How does it get any better than that? We all want our name to be great, and receive all the praise and attention that the world has to give. We want our name to be great for selfish reasons. But that is the opposite of what God’s purpose is. God will bless Abram and make his name great for the purpose of being a blessing to others. God has given us all incredible gifts of body and mind, and we are to use those gifts for the benefit of our neighbor, and to the glory of God our Father.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for making us who we are. You have blessed us in such incredible ways that we can think, act, and speak of this life that you have blessed us with. We ask you Lord to guide us daily that we may not use these gifts with a selfish heart, but with a heart to serve those whom you place before us, that we may give glory to You, and shine the light of Jesus. In His name we pray, Amen.
