Beginnings & Endings

There are beginnings and endings to all things. Sometimes new beginnings bring us great joy, and others perhaps bring anxiety or nervousness. Sometimes the end can’t come soon enough, or we don’t want it to come at all. But everything begins and ends with God. He is the Alpha and Omega.

I can recall as a child wrestling with the fact that the life that God gives to us does not end. It is eternal. And while I understand that this is a great thing, I would get goosebumps just thinking about how the eternal life God gives never fades to black. It doesn’t end like movies do. It doesn’t run out of batteries like toys do. It does not end like everything that we are surrounded by does. It is living in the presence of God who exists outside of time. Our God loves us so dearly that He sent His Son into time and space to serve us. His love and His gifts never end. And so as our Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier, He is the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you have been, are now, and always will be. Yet, you have given us this time here on earth as a gift to us. Thank you for giving us this life, in this place, at this time. Help us to center you in all aspects of our lives, as you continue to work for us and through us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
